Reduce Your Energy Bills

Take advantage of the UK Government’s home energy help, but even with the offer of a new free boiler, many of our clients want to know if the upheaval will be worth it.  So, will a new boiler really save you money each month?

Save money

The short answer is yes.  Even if your current boiler was only a few years old, a new boiler is likely to be more efficient – but what does that mean? A boiler’s ‘energy efficiency’ is the percentage of the total energy used by the boiler to provide heating.  The best boilers on the market now can run at around 94% efficiency, meaning that 94% of the energy they uses goes to heating your home, and only 6% is used by the boiler to run itself, or ‘lost’ during usage.

A boiler that works this well would be known as ‘A’ rated.  Like most domestic appliances, boilers come with energy efficiency ratings of A to G.  Boilers with a G rating run at 70% efficiency or below.  If your boiler is more than 15 years old then it is likely to be G rated, but let’s be generous and assume that yours is 10 years old or less, so maybe E or F rated – could you still save money?

British Gas estimates that if you swapped an F-rated boiler in a semi-detached house for a new, high-efficiency boiler like the ones currently being provided via BoilersForFree.co.uk and the Government backed ECO scheme, you could save more than £140 per year.  Even in a small, mid-floor flat, your savings would be at least £65 per year.

As well as increased efficiency, a new boiler with a more accurate timer and thermostat can make sure that your home is heated to the temperature you want, when you want, wasting less heat and money.

So if your boiler is more efficient, your heating costs less, but that’s not the only saving you will make.  As well as lower energy bills, a new boiler can heat up your water faster, be safer for you and your family, and reduce the risk of unexpected repairs and costly breakdowns.  Money Supermarket estimates that an average repair for a small problem, such as a valve replacement in your boiler will cost around £150.  Add to that the costs of running electric heaters, or even relocating when your heating fails over winter, and suddenly reducing your risk of a boiler breakdown is a great investment!

If you qualify for a new boiler for free from the UK Government, the cost of the boiler and installation will be covered for you, saving you thousands of pounds, and the improved efficiency and lower risk of breakdowns can save you hundreds per year.  So yes, getting a new, free boiler is very much worth the hassle – especially when our team take care of everything for you, so all you have to do is sit back, relax, and get ready to enjoy toasty showers and a warm home.
